Every Photouria book is the same object: a Lulu linen hardcover, woven linen over hardcover boards, your title foil stamped on the spine, and a printed dust jacket over the top. There are six sizes, from 14 × 22 cm up to A4 at 21 × 30 cm, and six linen colours. Inside, photos print on 80lb coated paper with a matte finish, and a book can run from 24 pages up to 800.
Which linen colour should you choose?
The colour you choose is the colour that is bound. A rough guide:
- Red. Warm and bright. A gift colour, and a good one for a child's book.
- Navy. Classic. Family years, anniversaries and memorial books.
- Black. The most formal. Weddings, and a book that sits with other hardbacks.
- Grey. Quiet and modern. Goes with most rooms.
- Tan. Natural and light. Babies, summers and anything soft.
- Forest. Dark green. Travel and the outdoors.
Why linen, and why only one cover?
Photouria makes one book and puts the effort into that one. Linen is the cloth hardbacks have long been bound in: it is pleasant to hold and takes handling well. A foil title reads clearly from a shelf, and matte paper shows photos without reflections under a lamp. One cover also keeps the price simple: it moves only with the number of photos you keep.
